38. Kirsten Gorsuch

Chief comms officer, UnitedHealthcare

As CCO for the world’s biggest healthcare company by revenue, UnitedHealthcare’s Kirsten Gorsuch is by default a healthcare comms influencer.

But the company’s pandemic efforts and response to racial unrest demonstrated the importance of comms at the Minneapolis-based company and how Gorsuch employed the skills developed over 25-plus years in the field.

David Wichmann, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare’s parent company, held unprecedented daily employee broadcasts about COVID-19. And after George Floyd’s death he pivoted and went back on the air along with company diversity and inclusion leaders to discuss the tragedy.

In an expression of purpose, the company gave $10 million to the Floyd family and the Twin Cities neighborhoods.
