Michael Dowling worked in U.K. steel mills and on the New York docks, at Blue Cross Blue Shield and as director of New York’s Health, Education and Human Services. No doubt those experiences helped him lead Northwell while it dealt with the height of the U.S. COVID-19 pandemic.
Dowling adopted a realistic but optimistic persona and walked a line between honesty and hope while supporting the frontline workers fighting COVID-19 in Northwell’s hospitals.
